How it applies

The IGF Code is mandatory under SOLAS for ships that use gases or other low-flashpoint fuels, such as LNG: generally new ships built on or after 1 January 2017, and existing ships converted to use these fuels. It doesn't apply to gas carriers covered by the IGC Code.

Who uses it

Owners and designers of LNG-fuelled ships, shipyards, engine and fuel-system makers, classification societies and crews on gas-fuelled vessels.

Is the 2026 Edition the latest IGF Code?

Yes. The 2026 Edition is the current IMO edition, with amendments in force on or before 1 January 2026.

What's the difference between the IGF Code and the IGC Code?

The IGC Code covers ships that carry liquefied gas as cargo. The IGF Code covers other ships that burn gas or other low-flashpoint fuels.

Is the IGF Code mandatory?

Yes. It's mandatory under SOLAS for ships using gases or other low-flashpoint fuels, generally those built on or after 1 January 2017, and for existing ships converted to use them.

Can I return a digital edition?
