Overview
The Ballast Water Management Convention (2004) requires all ships to implement a ballast water management plan; ships must carry a ballast water record book (BWRB) and complete ballast water management procedures to a given standard.
This BWRB provides the means to record all the information necessary for compliance with the BWM Convention. All the information that features across the four sections included in this record book is in accordance with Resolution MEPC.369(80) - 'Amendments to appendix II (Form of Ballast Water Record Book)', Resolution MEPC.387(81) - 'Interim guidance on the application of the BWM Convention to ships operating in challenging water quality conditions and BWM.2/Circ.80/Rev.1' Ā - '2024 Guidance on ballast water record-keeping and reporting'.

- Amendments to the BWM Convention approved at MEPC 84 (May 2026)
