Vessels sailing under the Grenada Country Flag are required to have on board this flag as part of flag state requirements that derive from maritime regulations in the International Code of Signals and the International Safety Management (ISM) Code. These codes are published by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as an ongoing effort to reinforce maritime safety procedures and communications to the international maritime community. Fleet management companies and ship owners are responsible to ensure that each vessel in their respective fleets have the appropriate flag signage onboard to be in compliance. This flag is used to identify the flag state a vessel is sailing under and to communicate with other vessels under the provisions of the International Code of Signals.

The Grenada Country Flag, adopted in 1974 depicts a red background with a square formed in the center by four triangles that meet in the center where a yellow star sits inside a red circle . The two triangles forming a bottom and top of the inner square are colored yellow, while the two forming the mast side and forward side are colored green. A yellow and red depiction of a nutmeg adorns the green mast-side triangle. Three yellow stars are displayed centered in the red near the top of the flag and three adorn the same position at the bottom. Flag dimensions if flown at sea should be 2:1, length to height. On land those dimensions should be 5:3. The Grenada Country Flag should not be flown after sunset, except inside a building or during an important ceremonial occasion. It should not be allowed to touch the ground and should never be displayed if it is damaged. No other flag should be flown above or to the right of it except at foreign embassies, consulates or foreign missions.
