IMO has just released a new publication: the Guide to Maritime Security and the ISPS Code, 2012.
What’s it for?
This Guide has been developed to consolidate existing IMO maritime security-related material into an easily-read companion guide to SOLAS chapter XI-2 (Special measures to enhance maritime security) and the ISPS Code in order to assist States in promoting maritime security through development of the requisite legal framework, associated administrative practices, procedures and the necessary material, technical and human resources.
It is intended both to assist SOLAS Contracting Governments in the implementation, verification, compliance with, and enforcement of, the provisions of SOLAS chapter XI-2 and the ISPS Code. It should also serve as an aid and reference for those engaged in delivering capacity-building activities in the field of maritime security.
There was some confusion when the Guide was first announced as its sales number (IA116E) indicated it may be a replacement for the ISPS Code (I116E). This new Maritime Security Guide does not supersede the ISPS Code, 2003 Edition, and aims to assist the SOLAS Contracting Governments in relation to the provisions of SOLAS chapter XI-2 and the ISPS Code.
When is it available?
The English version is expected to publish in April 2012 with Spanish and French versions to follow.
Update: The Guide to Maritime Security and the ISPS Code, 2012 is now available.
Update: The ISPS Code, 2003 Edition, is now out of print, having been replaced by this Maritime Security Guide.

Still reading and planning. Sequence along the Hudson River is a little confusing at times, doesn’t always seem linnear. I’m as far as Montreal on the reading.
Entertaining and engaging, this book was delivered when they said it would be, in a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable price.
Nice durable plastic placards instead of the decals you see a lot nowadays.
The book was received in excellent condition and delivered within reasonable time. As an international customer this was very important. American Nautical Services even followed up to make sure everything was good with my purchase. Thank you. Thumbs up.
