IICL: Guide for Flatrack Container Repair
The Institute of International Container Lessors, Ltd. has issued this Guide for Flatrack Container Repair as a reference to those involved in the repair industry. The purpose of any repair is to restore structural integrity to the flatrack, so that it may function safely in worldwide intermodal commerce as an instrument of international transportation. The Repair Manual for Flatrack Containers recommends procedures for repair to permit their safe return to service.
This manual should be used in conjunction with the IICL Guide for Flatrack Container Inspection to provide an interchange standard to determine repairworthy conditions. A proper repair should restore structural integrity so as to allow the flatrack to perform as specified and in accordance to CSC testing protocol and standards.
The specific manuals published by owners and manufacturers should also be on hand to supplement this Guide. In case of conflict between IICL's and owner's instructions, the owner's instructions should take precedence.
