Overview 

This publication provides the criteria for the development of training courses regarding service on ships using fuels as covered within the IGF Code at basic and advanced levels, in accordance with international regulations for seafarer training. The specifications have been developed by the MNTB in conjunction with the MCA.

The publication sets out the competences identified in Tables A-V/3-1 and A-V/3-2 of Regulation V/3 to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978. For each competency, it lists the knowledge, understanding and proficiency required, the methods for demonstrating competence and the criteria for evaluating competence.
