Completely revised and updated to address changes in technology and safety standards, this new edition is the definitive guide to the art and science of sailing. Since the publication of the first edition in 1983, The Annapolis Book of Seamanship has set the standard by which other books on sailing are measured. Used throughout America as a textbook in sailing schools and Power Squadrons, it thoroughly and clearly covers the fundamental and advanced skills of modern sailing. Rousmaniere emphasizes the standard skills and proven methods that eliminate error and confusion, ensure security in emergencies, and allow every sailor more time for enjoyment on the water. Much has changed since the Third Edition: ereaders and computers have replaced paper maps, new types of anchors and sails have been developed, safety skills and gear are vastly improved, and many more women are commanding boats. But for all these modern developments, the basic skills and spirit of sailing remain the same. From navigation and seamanship to boat and gear maintenance, from pleasure cruising to heavy weather sailing, The Annapolis Book of Seamanship is the definitive, state-of-the-art guide that provides systematic step-by-step techniques to see you through every situation on deck and in the cockpit.

Best book care ever

I buy a lot of books. I’m not proud that many purchases come from Amazon. Amazon shoved expensive books in boxes with no care or protection. I nervously take the book out and instantly see the damage. So much disregard is so disappointing and smacks of speed over care. I received this book from American Nautical Services. carefully opened the box, I looked inside. It seemed to be packaged with care. As I slid the book out with its ample protection. Unwrapping it, I was excited. It was in perfect condition. Thank you for caring!
