An Able Seaman rating is a national endorsement that is a prerequisite for every candidate seeking an STCW International Able Seafarer endorsement in that you must first hold the National Able Seaman endorsement.

This course includes considerable text material, numerous illustra­tions, some essay-type questions and answers. Most multiple-choice ques­tions are taken directly from the U.S. Coast Guard exam ques­tion database. The questions are sep­a­rated by subject and ranked in as­cend­ing order of dif­ficulty within each chapter. The Coast Guard uses the same “deck” data­ base to test both Able Seaman and licensed officers. We added study guides, vocabulary assistance, comments, explanations, and refer­ences to help all candidates to preparing for the Coast Guard exams.
